As a student in our program, you will develop an understanding of the governmental, social, and economic environment of public service and health care administration at the national, state, and local levels.
A bachelor's degree in public administration prepares you for a career in government, nonprofit agencies, and trade and professional research foundations.
Degree Requirements
- English Composition: ENG 101 and ENG 102 — six credits
- English Literature: ENG 231 or ENG 232 — three credits
- Constitutions — three to six credits
- Mathematics — three credits
- Distribution requirement (Social Science)
Humanities and Fine Arts — nine credits
Life and Physical Sciences and Analytical Thinking — nine to 10 credits
PHIL 102 and two courses from life and physical sciences category (one must be a lab course) - Multicultural (see Note 1 in Undergraduate Course Catalog)
International (see Note 1 in Undergraduate Course Catalog)
PUA Core Requirements (36 credits total)
Thirty-six credit hours must be taken. Among the courses offered are:
- PUA 241 (Survey of Public Administration)
- PUA 405 (Public Organizations)
- PUA 410 (Research Methods for Public Administration)
- PUA 420 (Public Personnel Administration)
- PUA 421 (Computer Technology in Government)
- PUA 422 (Leadership in Public Bureaucracies)
- PUA 423 (Ethics in Public Administration)
Total: 124 credits
Note: Every student must complete a three-credit multicultural course and a three-credit international course. Courses satisfying other requirements may simultaneously satisfy the multicultural and international requirements.
