Without private support, the quality of the educational experience at UNLV is less than what it could be for students and the ability of the university to support the economic growth of Southern Nevada is negatively impacted. Thus, your gift to the School of Environmental and Public Affairs is more than just a donation — it is an investment in the future of this dynamic metropolis, region and people.
The mission of the School of Environmental and Public Affairs (SEPA) at UNLV is to employ an interdisciplinary approach to create knowledge and understanding to support effective policy and governance through collaborations of faculty, students, and the greater community. Our vision is a community that continuously engages important decision-making processes in order to facilitate effective, long-term, problem-solving capacity for society in the areas of environmental science and management, public administration, and other policy arenas. Achieving this will require new levels of cooperation among citizens and experts across the public, non-profit, civic, and private sectors.
Given this, the School is well positioned to make a difference in the science, policy and management challenges associated with many different public issues. Our unique interdisciplinary approach draws from critical skill sets that allow us to match the complexity of existing and emergent public problems such as, but not limited to:
